John-Paul (J-P) Smith is the Chief Executive Officer of Imagineer Systems. With a decade of technical, hands-on development experience, Smith has risen through the ranks of Imagineer Systems, joining the Company in its early start-up days and playing key roles in executing and managing the technology vision of the founders and management team. Today, Smith taps his combined technical expertise with deep understanding of the visual effects marketplace and user requirements to lead the Company as Chief Executive Officer, exploring untapped markets and uncovering new opportunities to propagate the Company’s signature Planar Tracking technology in newer, more efficient and more valuable desktop VFX applications.
Smith is a graduate of Imperial College London with a MEng in Information Systems Engineering.
Ross Shain is the Chief Marketing & Creative Officer of Imagineer Systems. With 20 years of creative and technical experience in both post-production and the software industry, Shain has held responsibilities ranging from industry applications specialist and product evangelist, to sales management and business development executive. With hands on post production projects under his belt, Shain is an accomplished art director, effects compositor and visual effects supervisor and leverages these hands-on experiences in bringing real-world, customer perspective and technical understanding to his role as Chief Marketing Officer for Imagineer Systems.
Prior to his role at Imagineer Systems, Shain has held positions with Northern Lights Post, Avid Technology, On2 Technologies and New York University’s CADA Program.
Shain is a graduate of Bard College in upstate New York.
Mik Wells leads the software engineering teams in new technologies and continued development of the mocha product line. With over fifteen years of experience in the high-end film and video software industry at companies including Avid Technology and Softimage, Mik brings significant expertise in 3D, compositing, effects and editing real-time 3D simulation and training software to Imagineer Systems.
As a result of his experience with Softimage and Avid, Mik brings a solid understanding of the complexities of colour science, colour management systems, 2D and 3D compositing, rendering, and broadcast standards.
Prior to Softimage, during his time at Avid Technology/Parallax in London, Mik was a Senior Engineer on Media Illusion, a resolution-independent composting, effects, paint and editing software for the high-end film and video industry. Mik has also worked as an independent consultant for “Chameleon,” an on-set pre-visualisation product for real-time chroma keying and compositing of live action footage into a virtual scene.
