Use motion keying capability to place musicians on stage
July 25, 2003 - Guildford, United Kingdom - MTV On-Air Promos recently decided to purchase mokey when faced with the difficult task of having to key musicians out of shots from a variety of locations to place them all on the same stage. The tight deadlines meant that traditional rotoscoping methods were out of the question, so they turned to mokey and found the solution they need to get the job done on time.
"It is pretty amazing what mokey is able to do. We had both film and video footage from different sources and we wanted to key off the musicians to place them all in one location. mokey's ability to generate a cleanplate clip of the background and a key for the people in the foreground is simply stunning," said Nicolas Sarudiansky, Senior Editor for MTV On-Air Promos We have been following the development of mokey for some time, and with the release of v3 out, we felt that it was now mature enough to integrate into our toolset. After being talked through the basic concepts and getting a taste for what mokey can do I was able to pick it up and generate results very quickly."

"It is really cool to see innovative software products like mokey becoming available. The idea of packaging a set of really smart algorithms to solve everyday problems faced in post production is great and we are really pleased with the results," says Jason Roth, Producer for MTV "mokey is complementary to the other tools we use and we are only just starting to get an understanding of how widely it can be applied."

"The team at Imagineer is really pleased to see another key US facility adopting the mokey tool for its post production needs. It is clear that the expansion of the mokey toolset into areas like stabilization and grain tools is making the tool attractive to almost every facility, whilst the improvements made to the traditional mokey modules for object removal and keying have been applauded by the industry," says Allan Jaenicke, Managing Director for Imagineer Systems "Since the debut of v3 at NAB the American market has been very quick to adopt mokey. mokey has recently been used on numerous projects including Charlie's Angels II, Harry Potter and the Prince of Azkaban and Spiderman II."
