Imagineer invites artists to join the motor beta testing program

Imagineer is currently developing a new product, motor, which aims to combine Imagineers planar tracking technology with a state-of-the-art rotoscoping toolset to allow artists to rotoscope faster and better, making the laborious task of rotoscoping as pleasant as possible. To ensure that the toolset meets the post production community's requirements, Imagineer is enlisting rotoscoping experts worldwide to participate in the beta programme to help define the ultimate rotoscoping toolset. The programme currently has close to 200 beta testers, and several success stories have already been reported.

VFX supervisor Ben Grossmann at The Syndicate in Los Angeles is one of the motor beta testers:

With the timetable to execute the BMW spot trimmed in half to just three weeks, Grossmann opted to use motor, beta software from Imagineer Systems, which enabled The Syndicate to significantly speed the rotoscoping process. Based on an advanced method of predictive rotoscoping, motor is "extremely fast and efficient," Grossmann reports. He tested a 100-frame shot whose hand rotoscoping required setting 88 key frames; motor required just four. Hand rotoscoping the sequence took one day while motor zipped through it in four minutes.

We would like to encourage more artists to sign up for the beta programme, which can be done by emailing a request, containing contact details, to:-
