DS Ref Movie plays white

I had a same problem too. It made me to oversleep. Anyway, Here’s the solution:cool:
If your import file directory has any other languages like Japanese or Arabic or chiniese mocha cannot read the file. So, I suggest to copy the file to main hard driver. For me, like
C:/ or
D:/
like that.
And I’m sure the problem will be fixed

Monet has suffered from this as well for some time. Quicktime ref movies work, but AVI ref movies don’t.

I don’t think we have ever had the Black Magic codecs installed (but they are Quicktime anyway aren’t they?)

Hi,

8 bit PAL sequence on 64 bit DS v8.0 QFE4.
Output a Ref AVI of a 4 sec clip.

Start new project on Mocha and import DS Ref Movie.

Mocha displays white frames.

I guess it’s not seeing the codec.

AVI plays fine in WMP

Suggestions?

We are experiencing some Codec issues and it’s not always directly related to the codec of the source being used.

Have you got Blackmagic codec loaded by any chance?
FYI - Can’t import PAL DV… (http://forum.imagineersystems.com/showthread.php?t=198) http://forum.imagineersystems.com/showthread.php?t=198

Just to let you all know we are looking into this matter and will reply ASAP. In the meantime any suggestions / observations are very welcome.

It seems some of you are getting Quicktime reference movies to work but not Avi reference movies?

Please confirm system specs OS etc.

Well, I am having no luck with either QT ref or AVI ref.

When I attempt to open a ref file, or even a rendered QT, I get:

“Failed to open movie: Check that file is readable.”

The only success I am having is with image sequences.

Is there a definitive list of working import formats?
I am currently downloading Beta 2 to see if that helps.

Jef

me too, Speaking for myself, XP64 SP2. Every other DS user will either be on that or XP Pro SP2.

I’m DS_v8.4, but I’d hazard a guess that if you get Mocha to see the SIAVIREF codec at all then it won’t matter what DS version users have - they’ll all work.

Hi Jef,

Regular uncompressed AVIs work just fine - but they are, of course, huge.

Hi Jay,

Yes, I saw that other thread. I don’t appear to have the Black Magic codec installed (it’s not an option for QT export), so dunno what to do now. I really don’t want to have to fill my drive up with file sequences - the whole idea of being able to use DS Ref Movies is one of the things that makes Mocha attractive to DS users.

Have you seen this problem (white screen) on DS Ref files in house?

Cheers,

Hi Bob,

Yep - the Black Magic codecs are indeed QT.

Seeing as I can’t make QT refs with the 64 bit DS, this is kinda limiting :-/
