I have a tricky shot I need some tips on. I need a perspective track on a door that is swinging. The issues are the actor covers the door for periods of time and the color of the door changes because it’s picking up highlights as it swings. You can see the 3 different tracking areas I’ve tried to use and also the holdout mattes for the guy. I’m still getting unwanted drift and I think it’s mostly because the color of the door changes a lot from the exterior light. I’m fairly experienced with Mocha, but could use some tips from folks more seasoned than I. Thanks
So you can track just the top of the door and get the information for the whole door, that will give you best results while you avoid large areas of reflection and where the talent passes over the door. You can also cheat and grab the front edge of the door to give you some extra texture anchorage for mocha even though it’s technically not on the same plane you can probably get away with it.
Thanks Mary, manual track is something I hadn’t tried yet. I’ll give it a whirl. I watched that video and you used a shot I sent you a couple of years ago from a Panasonic shoot. Lol.
